We make data
legible.
DataDood is an independent Indian data journalism platform. We cover elections, economy, education, and sport — not with opinion, but with models, surveys, and primary data.
Why DataDood exists
Indian public discourse is data-rich and insight-poor. Elections produce gigabytes of booth-level returns; nobody publishes them in a form a journalist or citizen can use. Budget documents run to thousands of pages; economic journalism reaches for the headline figure. ASER surveys 600,000 children every year; most education coverage ignores the district-level variation that makes the data interesting.
DataDood was founded in 2019 to close that gap — not by simplifying complexity, but by making complexity navigable. We build models, not takes. We publish ranges, not point estimates. We cite sources, not authorities.
Our readers are journalists, researchers, students, political operatives, and curious citizens who are tired of being told what to think about data they cannot see. We exist to put the data in front of them.
"The numbers don't lie — but they don't speak for themselves either."— DataDood Editorial Charter
Work with us or pitch a story
We welcome data tips, corrections, methodology challenges, and collaboration proposals from researchers, journalists, and civil society organisations. We also occasionally take on commissioned data analysis for non-partisan bodies.
